I feel like a bit of an idiot asking this but hey, that's what the forum is all about!

I have a recollection that the new DSG 'boxes are 7 speed, is that right? Or am I imagining that's what the salesman said to me?!

Vrs uses the 6 speed "wet" version. I think some of the smaller engined ones use the 7 speed

Ah ok, that answers that then, thank you! I've only ever driven 7 and 8 speed autos, so it may be weird it not changing gear as much at first. That said, as it's known as one of the best auto boxes available, I'm sure I won't even notice lol

You'll be fine, the ratios are about right and she shifts smoothly, just the six seems to me spot on.
