Im thinking of setting up a wireless network here at home, main computer, laptop and PDA

any suggestions as to what to go for, upto now im tempted by this one

NETGEAR NET-DG834GT WIRELESS ADSL ROUTER - 4 PORT SWITCH

any advice ??

we had a linksys one before and it was a nightmare, always dropping and horribly slow. the belkin we are now running is much more reliable :)

we are running two laptops in the house and a desktop nextdoor with very little problem :)

We use these a fair bit - pretty good bits of kit.

We have found that some of the Netgear PCMCIA cards don't work too well with laptops running XP...though if your laptop has inbuilt wireless it will be fine. :)

Laptop has inbuilt wireless, so hopefully should be no problems

just curious though, can I "hard wire" main PC to it and use wireless for others ??

 It's what I'd recommend - set the router up nearish to the PC, and connect them using a CAT-5 cable. Then you can use the PC to configure the router to enable the wireless settings, security, etc. for the laptop and PDA to use.

This is true... :D

I've had bother with all in one solutions from Netgear and D-Link before. Mainly power supply and wireless range issues so i've replaced them with individual items.

Obviously kept my NTL Cable Modem but now have SMC 8 port router and Belkin wireless gateway. Super range on the Belkin unit and the SMC is built like a tank with integrated power supply etc.
