For Sale - Do I........................?

Featured Replies

Due to various things (one of which being alot more mileage) the vRS estate has to go and a Derv needs to replace it (still not sure to go with a Furby or Octavia again).

Anyway, before it goes up for sale it will of course get a service (oil, air-fuel-oil-pollen filters, anything else that looks like might need doing) but do I do the cambelt (full kit) or offer it cheaper and let new owner do it?

Due to the miles its on (147k) I know it wont go for decent money, however by doing the cambelt (kit inc water pump) it gives me less wiggle room on the price and will put me at the top end of the market for given miles.

Advice please.

(The car came to me with a few niggles which most are sorted, just the drivers window left to sort really)

Cheers

I'd suggest price it as you think and don't do the belt then you can agree to knock some money off if the interested party clued up. If you do it and price higher, you could well end up negotiating a lower price to get a sale anyhow.

When was the last cambelt done? If it was 3 years ago or less I'd definitely leave it. They are popular cars so price it up and see what happens.

Not worth doing imho if you're selling. Most people looking at this end of the market tend to factor a belt change into the price anyway (unless they're stupid) as it's worth doing for piece of mind - but you probably won't recoup the cost of having it done in terms of a higher sale price.

Did you make any decisions with this yet fella?
