Yo! First time Skoda owner

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I'm Gem, 31 from Nottingham.

Currently drive a Seat Arosa however I am picking up a Skoda Fabia Estate on Tuesday.

It's got some surface rust on the boot, a hole in the drivers seat (Which annoys me hah!) and full service history.

Anyway..here's a few pics :)

Hi and welcome to the forums! Nice looking car and yes the hole in the seat would annoy me too.

Hello welcome to Briskoda

My dads got a fab vrs and for some reason he has a hole in the drivers seat too:-/

He's not massively bothered tho and has some seat covers to hide it :)

Hiya.

You can probably find a new (well used but good condition and off a high spec model) set of chairs on t'interwebnet thingie.

The rust may (note may) be covered by the bodywork warranty; can't hurt to ask a dealer.

I would say it is - isnt it a lifetime anticorrosion warranty?

Hi Gem - Welcome to Briskoda

Cheers,
Ste.

Thank you everyone. I shall enquire about the rust thingy, I wasn't aware of this.

This is the hole that annoys me. :D I did think about seat covers or trying to source another one, but I wouldn't know where to start when it came to swapping them over. I'm useless like that. :)

I would say that's a new seat time!

Gotta be able to grab some cheap vrs seat from some where :)

Hello and welcome

Adam

Thank you. I'm actually quite intrigued as to what caused the hole as it hasn't had many owners :|

Fat people wearing belts

Jeans with buckles

People with keys and other sharp objects in their pockets

Only takes one little rip or mark and as soon as the threads get broken the rest will just split :-/

I don't know if you can buy new covers (rather than complete seats) from a dealer, but I do know that fitting them is a specialist job (not hard, but involved and requires a knowledge of how to do it).

Well, I'm only 4'22", 18 stones, wear a belt and keep keys in my pockets, and my 13 YO 130k miles example doesn't have a hole there.

Well your lucky then

Thank you, I'd rather buy covers if I'm honest.

I'm also 'large' and never had a hole in any of my cars in 7 years of driving. :)

Actually, it does look like about where a studded leather belt might contact and catch on the bolster.

Automotive upholstery is a specialist skill in its own right; if you poll round the local FE colleges for classes in "car restoration" (not just repair or maintenance; those just cover the mechanicals) you might find someone who can help.
