No idea what it is. What has it improved?

As above looks like he cover for the inlet with a hole in it

Still not given us any clues to what it could be. The suspense is killing me.

Looks like the top cover for the air intake but it has a hole in it. One would assume it would be pulling air from the engine bay now though.

The last place you want yo be pulling air from is the engine bay. If anything it could be dropping the bhp due to warm air in the intake. I struggle to understand why you have or wanted to fit this now cover.

Please enlighten us this is killing me Hahahah

I would've though the only advantage of this part is acoustic. That hole in the top will surely increase induction noise slightly.

Once the car is on the move, I'd doubt any warm air will get dragged into the side pipe via that slot, as the outside air will be flying in from the front intake duct. And when the car is stationary there's no cold air coming in, so warmer will be drawn in from the engine bay regardless.

I ran my car without that cover for months from new as the dealers had forgotten to put it on after the inspection...made no difference whatsoever to performance or sound.

Its proven to improve the air flow whilst on the move...alot of cars in warmer climates were fitted with it.

When i fitted mine i replace a hose so can't say for sure its improved.Any car is likely to get some warm air whilst stationary.

If you google the part number they did a few dyno runs with different filters and with a BMC panel filter it gained 10ps 9BHP.

Instead of ripping it all out and feeding a pipe in and a big cone filter,i thought this was a good idea.

I would have said it would slurp up warm air from engine....

Does it work??

Would say by the looks it will fit the tfsi engine no good for me tho as I have lovely carbon intake :)

I could not say 100%,i suppose if it was a race car and every bhp counts its worth chasing...everyday i cant say ive noticed.but my power is back to it should be because of the hose.

But it certainly picks up alot more furiously than it did before.combined with the hose hard to say....someone else could just pop their lid off to see maybe?

As said in previous post...it made no difference at all to sound or performance when mine ran for months with the cover removed. Can't really see any benefit to be had at all as surely the cover on the intake is facing the bonnet and not the direction of airflow from the outside? Anyway no difference on my motor.

Your opinion, ive seen the dyno graph's.if it never made a difference why would Vag produce such a thing and fit it to their range of cars. 10bhp is hardly noticable, especially if your car is standard and lacking the out of the factory figures.ill add the graph's when i find them

just giving my opinion based on the fact that my car ran without the cover for months...no worries if you want to spend your money on it, each to their own.
