1.4TSI(CAXA) clunking sound when taking off

Featured Replies

Hello all

I have 1.4TSI 90KW O2FL from 2010, that was giving me headaches from the moment I've got it last summer.

Last one developed just before chaining chain and cam regulator and tensioner.

When taking off from standstill or if engine is under load with quick acceleration clunking sound starts somewhere from engine.

Same sound can be reproduced on standstill if handbrake on, little bit of RPM(1000-1200) and clutch at biting point. Sound like some metallic components hitting each-other.

Initially I was thinking that is due to lose chain or clutch. But same sound after chain(+rails, +tensioner, +cam regulator... and this were changed like 1000KM ago) and clutch were changed(changed 500KM ago). Also seems that no issue with bushings(I'm not totally convinced).

One mechanic said that maybe the chain not correctly installed and could behave same as it a loose chain. But as chain change was peaty expensive I want to have a better diagnosis before starting that road again.

I was not able to record the sound yet but hope I'll be able to do one in the following days.

Dis you experienced something similar?

What should I check/investigate?

Thanks,

...just forgot few details. No DTC, Oil OK and new, new oil in gearbox(6M), CV's OK. Engine mounts seems OK(changed the driver side mount few mounts ago). Also pipe seems to not hit anything.

Seems issue was due to Engine ECU software. SW updated from version 5295 to 9970 seems solved the issue for cold conditions
