car seat

Featured Replies

Have you thought about buying a system that includes a pram aswell?

We had a silver cross which came with the normal lay down bit for when they are small which converted into a sitty up bit for when they get a bit older (could be forward or rear facing on the pram)

Also came with a car seat that would also fit on the pram so you didn't have to disturb them for nipping into the shops and then this would fit straight back onto the isofix base in the car.

A lot of people tend to ditch the pram in favour of a more practical buggy as soon as they can but having a big estate meant we still use ours from time to time just to get our moneys worth out of it. Of course we have now changed the car seat but the rest of it has worn really well and would consider keeping it for the next one.

Whatever you get make sure its ISOFIX, I wouldn't dream of using a seat belt system these days unless it was only for short term as they just don't feel secure enough for my liking

Hi mate

We have already brought a pram system which is also silver cross which comes with everything including car seat.. but I'm shocked to find out that the car seat is only rated to 30mph impacted.. where a's cybex and maxi-cosy britax are rated to 70mph impacted.

So me and the wife have decided to buy a highly tested car seat as we do a fair bit of travelling.. just keep the silver cross car seat as a spare or when the grandparents take baby out..

Cybex?!? Ok I don't personally know how they hold up in a crash but they do look pretty awesome in orange. I personally can't get on with not having a seat belt. Just effectively a strapped pillow would scare me with my little one.

Maxi cosy two way pearl is good so far as I can tell in our mkii scout. Its isofix - although in our fiesta we have a maxi cosi toby which feels very well secured via seat belt. Seat belt and isofix are basically the same safety wise if you install them properly.

Good Luck.

We have used maxi cosy on normal octavia and it was really good - no impacts so cannot comment on that side of things. Definately would go ISOFix as it is so much more secure.

Congrats Op. We're using a Maxi Cost Cabriofix in our FL VRS. Fits well and the little one (now 4 months old) seems happy enough in it.
