I'm fairly sure that the black plastic instrument surround is either rattling or the noise is from behind it. If I press the surround the rattle disappears. Does this surround just pull off or are there any hidden fixings? Thanks for any info.

It gently prises off.

Easier to start at the bottom and work your way round. It can be a little tough the first time you do it.

It is held in by little metal clips all the way round

Does it sort of sound like a sweet wrapper being quickly rustled? If so mine has done this for quite a long time and pressing the surround sorts it temporarily. Seems like a minor issue to take to the dealer to sort, so whats the best fix for it? Those sort of rattles just make the car feel and sound like low/poor quality, and a bit embarrassing when others are in the car.
