Xenon lights stopped self leveling

Featured Replies

Hi

I have had some issues witb my headlights, they have stopped selv leveling and cornering.

Yhe cornering lights i the daylight running lights works, but not the xenon.

The trouble started after i changed the balladt in my left headlight.

I have tried running diagnostic on the car, and found a few faults.

-Daylightrunninglights have short to ground

-xenon range

I deleted the freeze frame memorh to see if the faults came back, they didnt.

But it didnt solve my pro lem either, so now i am trying to figure out whats wrong, that dosent show in the diagnostic

Will be gratefull for all help

I used autel mot for the diagnostic

I had a similar problem with the Bi-Xenon lights on my Superb II. It turned out the self-levelling motors had become "frozen" after driving through flood water. It needed a headlamp reset in the Škoda workshop (a 5 minute job that cost me £40).

Alternatively, have you tried switching between "driving on the right" and "driving on the left" and back again, as this should disable and reenable AFS.

Hi

Update on my progress.

I tested the travel mode, didnt change anything. It didnt seem like the lights adjusted at all.

I checked all the fuses, none were broken.

I disconnected the battery, no effect on that either.

I also changed the xenon bulbs before i did any of the above.

Is there any way to test the afs manually or through diagnostics?

There are output tests in VCDS to check left/right and up/down motion. I don't know about Autel MOT I'm afraid.

Get someone to switch the engine while you are looking at the lights to see if they do the "dance".

Thanks i'm going to check with another diagnostic see if that has the same as options as vcds.

Shouldnt i see if the motor changes when the lights are on when i press travel mode? The light warning in dash gives me 3-4 blinks when i change.

I have tried another diagnostic with more spesific diagnose. And found out that everything are working. Except the lights. They work when testet but not when i start up the car. The left side motor also showed 102% when i it shouldt have been 50%.

Som most likely its the stepper motor out of range and needs to be recalibrated

Just realized the same problem, no calibration at startup.... It worries me that You still dont hve a glue to solve it. Maybe i will go for an official garage...

Hello lads,

I had problems in that department a while ago.

Problem was one of the headlights controller (see pic 1), located under each of them, got humidity in it and stopped leveling and was pointed down.

Skoda garage quoted me the big lottery prize at the time, as replacing that takes removing the whole bumper and the part was £280ish, I found one for £50 on eBay and had it done at a local garage.

You might want to verify the rear sensor (on the suspension - near passenger side), mine was broken (got a new one of cars-equip).

So skoda quoted for the whole thing: £600ish without the labour.

Fixed mine for about £150 with the labour.

This was my problem also, a crack in the headlight and all the water went down throught the haedlamp, and in to the ecu for the xenon

Chaps,

I have the Xenons on both side stuck in down position.

I gave a shot at toggling the Tourist mode on and off but that didnt seem to reset the AFS.

I understand that there are 2 independant tilt controllers and motors nearside and offside, so it's unlikely that motors/controllers on both sides would die simultaneously.

So what fault further up the chain that could explain the issue?

 - Calibration missing ?

 -Tilt sensor malfunctioning?

 - anything else?

As I cant think what else to do, next step is connect  garage VCDS.

Any further advice appreciated!

Welcome,

All is guess work until you plug in VCDS really, it might be XYZ but no closer to an answer.
