Best rear plate bulbs

Featured Replies

Hi just wondering what everyones opinion on these was i want the led regi bulbs but i have seen bulbs and i have also seen full units just wondering whats is best i dont want them so bright you cant see the plate.

Sorry OT,

i followed pretty much all the way last night from Glasgow to Edinburgh a White Astra VXR with

2 sets of 4 White / Blue Number Plate LEDS shining back as bright as DRL's on the front of some cars.

The only benefit of them was being able to see him doing undertakes and other smart moves while getting on no faster than anyone else.

I decided i like LED rear number plates,

maybe Police Scotland can spot him easily sometime.

Yeah i have seen a few cars with them so bright i dont like that i prefer the classy cleaner look of led not the over the top look at me. Then agein i dont think a green and white car says inconspicuous lol.

I've just bought some, not fitted yet as Skoda have had my car. Will do them at some point today and get back to you with my thoughts. I wanted them white instead of yellow. They were a few quid off eBay but need to make sure that they don't bring up any dash lights too.

I bought two sets one for my brother and one for mine, his were a doddle to fit as prefacelift vrs mine I struggled to get the lens off without breaking and they are still satin the box, they do look good on his though, any tips to remove later lenses?

Ive got these from halfrauds incredibly bright and error free and can just take them back with the receipt if they fail like most leds ive got from ebay, Had them 4 months with no problems were a tenner when i got them

I got these off eBay £3.993f6422a0205c65b9fa5fe9e4d1026a53.jpgb051fb9d42f90b8d3f0236c888d8e1e1.jpg

Thanks guys i was looking at the halfords ones today so i will decided tomorrow what ones to get

Got some Cree 3 LED ones in mine, error free and still going strong after nearly a year

I've seen some ridiculously bright registration lights before, mostly because of idiots who think more light is better but the LED's as pointed out above are a great little upgrade from the standard bulbs, gives it a more modern/sleek appearance without being too bright, they are polarity sensitive though so there's a 1/4 chance you'll get them the right way round the first time you install them :D

Fitted mine today in between is pouring it down. Found that they made the dash light come on. They cost pennies so not to bothered right now. Will order some error free ones this week. White is better than the standards. Will use the bulbs on the inside so the pennies haven't been wasted ha!

Sorry to bring up an old thread.

Anyone know the size they need to be as I got a set off interior etc ones off ebay and the number plate ones were too long.

Thanks

Mine were 36mm.

Thanks mate

Just done this MOD myself but to get rid of the error message you need to buy VAG resistor B (centre pic) for my 2010 VRS

and plug resistor connection first then the bulb holder into the resistor connection.  There are other ways but this is the easiest!

Every led Ive seen used for number plates seem to illuminate the back bumper more than the plate.

Every led Ive seen used for number plates seem to illuminate the back bumper more than the plate.

That just depends how you angle them.

You can point them so they shine on the floor or just in the boot if you wanted.

Spin them round until they shine how you like. I always angled mine towards the reg.

Such a stylee thing, wanting to point white lights at drivers that are following and being able to be spotted from a long way off undertaking and the likes due to just not

red tail lights and a usual number plate.

There have been years of chavs and tokers removing rear number plate bulbs so as the plate was less easily seen and now LED's make number harder to read.

Oddly standard fit LED's on cars with them look normal, and older models with 'upgrades' look naff IMHO.

EDIT.

Doh, i am senile, i never spotted i said a similar thing nearly a year ago in this thread.

I must have had to be behind some muppet then as this week in adverse conditions with what looks like 'Work Lights' facing back towards me.

Some are naff and some are a total PITA.
