cai install

Featured Replies

so today consisted of fitting a cai kit, got one second hand cheap, chucked away filter and tatty silicone parts bought new bits, plus a s2000 filter from ecp . first impressions nice bit of throaty noise not so sure im keen on the extra whoosh from the forge 008, but maybe ill grow to like it,

fitting took around 2 hours but i was painting some stuff for work in between,    now the filter was a pain in the arse, very tight fit had to bend and move the horn quite alot,  i think the filter is probably too big as i can feel it pressing on the bumper piece, so what other filter is recommended that is a bit smaller,?

the problem is the wide neck and length .

heres a cheeky pic things are coming along nicely now on the old skoda.

I had the same bother with mine. The k&n cone i had was far too big so i just managed to wedge the one that came with the kit, against the horn. I couldnt be chewed to move the horn around so i just made do. Hasnt been a pick of bother though.

The S2000 is far to big and it is the neck that makes the filter too long. Also as it is paper element I would not keep it there. The damp mist and dirt will kill that filter in no time buddy. Get a K&N filter. You can get universal ones that are smaller as long as the diameter fits your cai pipe you will be fine . Better to get a pre oiled filter like a K&N when filter is positioned down by bumper. As the light oil on these filters does a much better job at keeping the mist at bay but still lets air through.

Get ready for the arguments :dull:

Like all things, there is oiling the filter with an appropriate amount of oil which creates no problem, or there is the bath it in oil approach which is wrong on so many levels, and will spell doom for the maf.
