First scan with Carista reveals fault codes. Advice needed!

Featured Replies

As per title I scanned the Octy today. The following fault codes came up:

Telephone:

9458195

CAN network gateway:

01044 - Control Module Incorrectly Coded

All the important stuff came back fine.

I installed a 9w7 Bluetooth module when I first got the car and my inexperienced hunch points to this. The Bolero fitted might have been put in by the previous owner as I have the manual for the Swing instead.

I live in Bamber Bridge and would be very grateful for any VCDS assistance that could be offered. At least I can unlock all doors on first press and have finally turned the annoying beebs off at last!

Thanks in advance Briskodians!

Are they standing or have they cleared?

Are they standing or have they cleared?

They are standing. I cleared all faults and rescanned later and they were still present. I have a copy of the full log if it helps...

That was fast BTW!

The telephone (bluetooth module) needs to be registered on vcds. To be ticked in the installation list on 19- Can gateway

I'm no expert but as the fault code suggests, the coding isn't quite right on one of the modules, maybe some of the changes that have been done in the past have been copied from the net from somebody who has a slightly different module.

If everything is working I wouldn't worry too much but somebody with VCDS can probably sort it out if you can get somebody local

Dammit, thedealsealer beat me to it.

Thanks for the swift responses. I have no VCDS experience but am fairly tech savvy. As it's non urgent I am not overly worried but do want to get it correctly coded if possible, just because... Maybe the local dealers (Simpsons) will put it right if I get them to make my cheating EA189 diesel honest for a change!

I really wanted to set dipped beam as DRL's but don't think this is possible without also switching on the rears. I'm keeping the Carista app though as it might come in handy one day for clearing a code prior to MOT ;-)

Thanks for the reccomendation Mike, I met up with Adam this evening and all is good in the world again! What a thoroughly good bloke he is too. It took a little fiddling but we go there after a couple of tries.

VCDS looks interesting but best kept out of my hands... I would be dangerous!
