I had this and find that I have to leave the mirror control setting dial (on the drivers door) in "L".

Then the left hand mirror tilts on reverse.

Thanks Coops. So it has to be on either 'L' or 'R' to work & it's only that mirror then? It wasn't that way on the Superb 2 as far as I remember, was it?

Not tried it in 'R' to be honest.

I just know that if it is stuck in the middle or on heated setting it doesn't tilt. Not sure whether that's right?

I have DSG by the way, whether it makes a difference.

Must read manual.

Oh: 7,000th post!   :D

I'll give it a try now & see.... mine's a manual

I tried it there & it's exactly like you said Coops, but it only works on the Left mirror. When I put the switch out of 'L' & in to the centre the mirror didn't return to the previous position. It raised itself but didn't move out wards to where it was.

.... you learn something new every day! Thanks for that BillyJim :-)

Same as in the SII.

In the Superb II you had to have the mirror switch on L or R and it would dip the corresponding mirror to the last position used when reversing.

In the Superb III you commit it to seat memory but it only works on the passenger mirror. At least once it's set you don't need to fiddle with the mirror switch anymore.

Sad I know, but I RTFM (must be my hidden feminine side).

I'd better just give the manual to my missus, she'll read it, quote it but won't understand it!!! ;-)

If she reads this. When is your funeral?

Does this work on the driver side mirror if the switch is set to R?

  • 2 weeks later...

If in the UK it dips the passenger mirror, in Europe does it dip the drivers mirror.

No, on a LHD car you move it to the R position and it drops the passenger mirror

Seems like they still have not sorted the manual out for the MK3 ... I spent ages trying to get my MK2 mirror to dip when in reverse and return when moving forward.... They seem to have missed a small instruction...

Try this:- as per my problem...

Saving front passenger mirror settings when reversing

Above the MAXI DOT display in the menu item Mirror down. The lowering function
for the mirror on the passenger side when reversing must be enabled
» page 45.
› Switch on the ignition.
Press the button SET A
› Press the required memory button B » Fig. 70.
› Turn the knob for the external mirror control to the position for the passenger
side mirror adjustment » page 78.
› Engage reverse gear.
› Adjust the front passenger's mirror to the desired position » page 78.
› Disengage reverse gear.
The set position of the exterior mirror is stored.

The bit that is missing is "Press the button SET A
