Oil leak on Skoda Octavia 1.6 CR TDI.

Featured Replies

As above really has anybody experienced any oil leaks on this engine?

I have inspected from the top of the engine under the bonnet and removed the engine cover and no visible leaks, my under tray is quite wet with oil and on the ground where I park at home also, so monitoring it and topping up with oil.

I'm also getting a strange noise when the car is cold and under load pulling off in low gears, the noise is hard to describe tbh.

So onto my other question what are the symptoms of turbo failure? The car is not smoking loads out of the exhaust either and drives fine. Car has full Skoda s/h and has just done 70000 miles.

And also if peeps have replaced the turbo on this engine how much was it and where did you buy from? Thanks in advance.

I have an Octavia 1.6TDi Auto. 2013

All the engine oil has leaked out onto the driveway and the garage floor - very strange

Not had any problems up to now with anything like this - ok it uses a little oil

Service June 2015 - not due another one yet

Seems to be a problem that as there is a guard underneath it's not easy to see when a leak begins and then builds up till it leaks out of the guard

Instead of topping up and monitoring it, get underneath it and have a look or take it to a garage.

Its unlikely but if you ignore it it may get worse and you could loose all your oil and seize the engine up

I was monitoring how much oil it was using and topping up, I couldn't get my car booked into any local garages locally sooner to get looked at as all were very busy.

Anyways all sorted now, it was oil leaking from my oil filter, and mechanic noticed a water leak on a hose from when the garage I bought the car replaced the EGR unit under warranty.

Glad you got it sorted  :D
