Hi. Concerned about two noises that I'm hearing from a used 1.2TSi. I'm not familiar with the engine so would like advice.

Noise 1: on startup there was a rough sound like a dull rattle coming from what I think was underneath the car. Sounded almost like there was a hole in the exhaust. After about 30 seconds it was gone.

Noise 2: when I started the engine with bonnet open the engine sounded raspy. Like a buzzing sound coming from the top of it.

The dealer involved has a very solid reputation so I'm wondering if these noises I'm hearing are actually completely normal for an Octavia 1.2TSI. Otherwise the car ticks all the boxes for me. (It'll also be sold with full 1yr Skoda used warranty)

Really would love a steer on this from Skoda experts!

Timing chain tensioner?Not cheap.

take it you haven't bought it yet----sounds like chain,   my friend had to pay for his on a 3-4? year old GOLF approx £700
