Clutch broken

Featured Replies

I was driving my fabia and I noticed the gears getting stiff within minutes and then the gear got stuck in third. After managing to really force it out of gear and into first, (with queue of angry drivers behind me) I had to drive my car home in 1st gear! I checked the brake and clutch fluid and it is topped up.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong?

Thanks...

Has the clutch pedal sunk to the floor, or is that still working? :)

Chris

used to get the same thing in both favorits and a felicia that we have owned, found that it would last a few 100 miles then right itself, HI found changing gear very difficult but I found parting with cash even harder so brute force allways won in the end

The clutch pedal has sunk to the floor and there is fluid in the clutch break reserve.

Just put your foot under the padal and pull it back up.

If your car is still covered under warranty get it booked in.

But may not happen again for a while.

Hi Sarah,

I went out to the car and pulled the clutch back up and now it works!:)

Do you know why this happend and is this a known problem on Fabias?

Thanks for the advice.

Hmm - rather worrying, definitely would want to know the reason for it happening, and what can be done (if anything) to prevent it ?

It's all very well giving the gear stick a good bashing to get it into a gear, in an emergency, but I wouldnt want to do that more than once to just get myself to a safe place to call RAC/AA/etc :(

Hi

It is the clutch hydraulics.

Cant remember if it is the Master or Slave cylinders.

It will be ok for a bit now.

If it does it again just do the same.

But it does need doing.

If your car is out of warranty try the Customer Services as this is a very common problem and could be covered in to a 4th or 5th year.

So dont pay anything yet.

I called skoda Customer Services this morning and they wouldn't tell me if it was covered under warranty. They told me to book it in to a local Skoda garage and get it looked at and they may contribute towards the cost of the parts. Therefore they didn't say it was a recall job.

Has anyone else had this problem or known of Skoda to say this is a recall job. I am reluctant to pay their
