Interior light and cent locking issues

Featured Replies

Hi guys ,

Im looking for some advice on some strange issues im having with my octavia estate.

when you open all doors except the drivers rear then the interior light, and lower door puddle light flash in time with a clicking from the ccm/ also if you leave all doors closed and open the boot then the boot interior lights flash just the same .(the door open light on dash works fine , apart from the drivers rear door).

The central locking is very intermittant and will only work 20% of the time when you come out to the car in the morning but if you have been driving the car for a while and stop the car to get out then the interior lights stop flashing and the central locking works fine

there has been water ingress into the drivers side which i have now sorted out but not sure if this is related to the issues

also when the central locking works then all doors apart from the boot open .

i have tried the following ...

1.stripped the drivers door card off and footwell trim , module connector looks nice and dry and clean

2.fixed a large red and brown wire between the door and body which had turned green and broken

3.removed cd changer in boot and checked the 3 multi plugs which look good

4.removed the ccm and opened up, it looked dry and clean with no damage.

5.checked the resting battery voltage which is a bit low at 11.4 v , i had thought this may be a problem as the ccm not getting enough voltage and making the lights and cent locking not work and also explains that everything works after a short drive when the alternator has been feeding th battery 14v .

it is strange why the drivers side rear door doesent bring any int lights on or the dash door open light on , i presume this is a failed microswitch but it does lock and function ok when the car is playing ball.

im thinking that the ccm may be at fault as it doesent matter what door is open or even if its just the boot as the lights and ccm just click and flash away the same so its not like i can pinpoint one door to these faults or that could be wiring or a connection and as its doing it with all doors and the boot and coupled to the fact that it works fine after the car has driven and had some voltage through it then im thinking the ccm is at fault.

apologies for the extremely long winded tale on my central locking but im running out of things to check, also i havnt had the car plugged in yet as i dont have access to vagcom etc but i think i may need to get hold of a copy to further diagnose this.

would be great if anyone could shed some light on this and any input or ideas would be greatly appreciated

Best thing is get it plugged into vcds and check for any fault codes.

Think your right , ive just ordered the software and cable so will see what it shows

for instance today , there is no central locking and no interior lights or red door open warning on dash , irrespective of what door and is a bit strange
