Seat Heaters - How Many?

Featured Replies

The seat heater in the drivers seat seems to only warm my back and not my derriere!! Are there two elements - one for back and one for base squab - or just one? In  other words is there a fault, I have 3 weeks of 4 year extended warranty left so should I raise with dealer?

That's a relatively common problem! There are several others on here that have had one or more replacements, and it does seem to be just the driver's side base that fails. I've had the heater element of my driver's seat base replaced twice now. Both times the back still worked fine. Fingers crossed it's sorted this time, as it's now on its second winter and still going.

I've got a new element for my base sat in the garage, I'm just waiting on some enthusiasm to fit it...

Yes the Base element in my drivers seat failed as well.

They seem used to changing them.

Get it booked in with the dealer pronto!

Given the length of warranty remaining.

Anyone tackled this themselves?  It appears mon derrière c'est froid also :p

Mine seems to intermittently work or not work. I'm also interested in any DIY solutions.

Fabia Mk2 had a Service Campaign on Heated Seat Elements and Switches,

(still running & many cars might never have had any Field Action where Registered Keeper have never been informed because Skoda decided it

was not Safety Critical.)

was there not the same on Yeti, or do these elements and switches just stop working, rather than over heating as some did in Fabias?

I've had 3 driver's seat base elements replace under warranty, and one passenger seat base element. Driver's seat element has gone again but I'm putting up with it as I'm told it's a pig to replace as the clips that secure the seat cover in place sometimes break when the weather is warm, and invariably do when it's cold.

One dealer told me they fail because of the way people sit on the side bolster as they get in & out of the car. Well how the heck are you supposed to get in & out in a standard width UK car park space where you cant open the doors wide?

To me, there's a design fault in the element if they fail so readily. Or are they being trapped somehow as they are being fitted?

As your car is still under warranty, get the element replaced ASAP. The replacement element will also be guaranteed for 2 years by Skoda, though not the labour for fitting it.

If you buy the Replacement Element, or some Warranty Provider does it will have a 2 year Parts Warranty.

If Skoda pays for the parts under the Original Manufacturers Warranty they are covered until the Manufacturers Warranty expires on the Vehicle,

so in the UK after the vehicle is 3 years old,

or 5 years if you extended the Warranty when new.

So get Skoda UK to admit that Skoda CZ parts original and replacement have Fundamental Design, Manufacturing

or Quality Control failings and may not be fit for purpose,

ie Sitting on when in a vehicle.

Ive been wondering if the heated seat in my Yeti is working, or if its just subtle. Ill have to have a sit in the passenger side and see what that feels like...

It has 3 heat settings and when working normally, it certainly isn't subtle if you use it on the highest setting !

Other than when exploring the car's features when it was new, I don't think I've ever used it on anything other than the lowest setting. Maybe you need to turn it up higher in the Arctic, but I've found 1 to be is plenty here in NW England

So it has active 'family planning' seats I take it.

Okay, booked in for replacement seat squab heater beginning of March. Dealer collecting car in the morning and will deliver mid afternoon when repair complete.

My drivers one definitely isn't working. I'll have to get on to the warranty company....

The biggest No, No, I was told, is kneeling on the seats

to reach across to the other side of the car.

Not sure why you'd ever need to do that. Just go round and use the other door ;)

If you're parked up against a wall etc such as a v tight garage.

Booked the car in to local Skoda dealer (D M Keith, York), dropped car off and courtesy car drove me home. Service manager called me mid afternoon to say job was complete, courtesy car picked me up and took me to the dealer. Seat heater was replaced, excellent workmanship - could not tell job had been done. car was also washed and cleaned. Seat heater now working perfectly and all done within extended warranty.

Incidentally D M Keith have a new showroom and workshops, very smart, they also are a main dealer for Seat's as well as Skoda's so will have a look at the new Ateca when available.
