Fabia mk2 Monte Carlo advice.

Featured Replies

Hi all. In the market for a 1.2tsi Fabia Monte Carlo 85 or 105. I'm looking at the 12, 62, 63 reg cars with around 25k on the clock.

Been to view a couple and enjoyed the drive.

However I noticed in all of the engines there seems to be corrosion on the screws, engine block etc. I saw it on 3 different Fabias.

Is this normal as they are only a few years old, also should I be worried?

Any other buying advice or things to watch out for would be helpful as I've never owned a skoda before.

Welcome to the forum.

Where are you in the UK, near the Seaside, or looking at cars near the Seaside?

There are budget built cars and some can show cosmetic corrosion easily when Pre Sales engine cleaning has left the surfaces unprotected.

You might get more replies in the Fabia Mk2 section where there are more Monte owners that might spot your question.

Hi folks, thank you for the replies. I'm going to view a 12 plate Monte Carlo at weekend. It's only done 10k since new so hoping its immaculate.

Purchasing from a dealer so will get any warrantee as peace of mind.

Yea the corrosion on the engines I saw was unexpected. Especially as they are all fairly new cars. It's more of a powdery build up than rust. I take it it's something you owners also have?

Also any specifics of things to look for whilst I view the car? The cam chain issue mentioned, is that on earlier models?
