DSG selector fault, yellow plastic bit broke off, could not get out of park

Featured Replies

My car (2008 octavia estate 2TDI)  would not start, so had had to get it out of park. having removed the leather cover, I could not find the yellow devise to pull. Finally managed to push the steel locking solenoid in and moved to neutral ish.

At the garage we found the yellow devise actually broke off causing the fault on the gear lever and the non start fault.

This piece of plastic would be hard pressed to be priced above £5, but you have to change the whole assembly, £550 plus 6 hours labour.

To my mind this is not fit for purpose, any body else had the problem
