my boot/tailgate won't unlock/open (with fob, internal central locking switch or the switch on the boot/tailgate) and neither the front or rear wipers (or washers) are working. I'm assuming this is an electrical problem, but the only fuses that are blown are for the towing device, so I'm assuming that's not related. 9perhaps too many assumptions..!)

Any ideas?

Front AND rear wipers not working suggests a blown fuse, perhaps there is another that has blown?

 

The boot switch is usually related to water ingress, either via a leak in the rear washer, through a leaky boot seal or the washer pipe popping off behind the boot carpet.

Thanks Briskodian. Actually turns out I am even more clueless than I thought - the windscreen wipers weren't working because I had the bonnet open! The boot issue is just the locking unit...

Yes, the wipers are disabled when the bonnet is open to prevent them making contact with the bonnet.
