Fabia mk2 and rcd510 dab

Featured Replies

Howdy!

Got hold of a cheap rcd510 to replace my 310. After installing almost everything works but I probably need to change sound system.

I also have a problem with sound fading out and touch screen freezing after 10-15 seconds when starting the car. Switching inputs or powercycling the unit fixes the problem. Someone mentioned that this is also a probable coding issue/fix. Something about WSC?

Can this be done with the lite version of vcds?

not come across that one

when i fitted the 510 dab in my roomster

i looked at the sound system in vcds as i thought the sound was not as good as the swing radio it replaced

are you sure its not a faulty unit

It's that word...cheap. Buying s/h when you have not heard it playing is the BIG risk.

Thanks for replying guys.

The unit wasn't *that* cheap, just cheap compared to local prices. It's a proper version, not a Chinese knock-off or anything. Anyway, had a look with VCDS yesterday. A mate's VCDS to be more precise. From other threads I've gathered I should have a look at the following:

Sound system (should be set to no sound system), was already, changed this to skoda sound system (CAN) just to test. Thought the sound was better on the drive home but could be placebo.

Speakers (should be set to four speakers), was already.

Speaker monitoring (should be on all four), afair was already.

We also set "Vehicle Specific Frequency Response" to Skoda Fabia, no idea if that makes any difference, maybe that's what helped?

Scanned for errors, one came up, intermittent open circuit digital radio antenna. I think this was probably from when I installed the unit. First I got a little excited because I thought that might be the reason for the loss of sound / hang x seconds after starting, but read up on it and it appears this error simply means the antenna was disconnected.

Placebo probably. The sound off the higher end OEM units is shocking in my opinion.

The Swing my car came with had the best sound out of the OEM ones.. the RNS510 was unbearable even with upgraded Audison speakers.

I got fed up and bought a Zenec unit. I've never looked back.
