2011 Superb 140 DSG 4X4 remapped

Hi, just a follow up to earlier query re remapping. Had the car done last week and boy was I shocked at


 


the stock dyno bhp reading.............it was   :sweat: 88bhp at the wheels.....sooo much loss in transmission


 


even for DSG & 4x4. So remap done and now 118bhp at wheels.......30bhp increase   :whew:. Torque at


 


stock was 234nm and 298nm after remap.


 


I haven't done any real mileage yet but the improvement is noticable, more pull low down, smoother,


 


much livelier between 40-70 so well pleased. Can post the remap sheet results if anyone interested.


powertrain loss in a DSG? a traditional auto id expect losses via the torque converter but not a DSG, id get it checked over

still an awful loss, 140ps-88ps? 

My previous car (PD105 Diesel) was 122 bhp (Flywheel) before remap when it was supposed to be 103.5 and current car (CR170 diesel) was 172 (flywheel) compared to the 168 official figure before remap. I'd be shocked if the numbers came in that low, even accounting for drivetrain losses. Was it a 4 wheel rolling road or was drive to the rear wheels disabled?

 

If the rear wheels were allowed to spin but power was only measured at the front wheels this might explain things. I suspect the rolling road calibration was off as drivetrain losses should not eat up 37% of the flywheel power without something feeling seriously off.

 

Also bhp (Brake Horse Power) and PS (Pferdestärke - German for horsepower, also known as 'metric horsepower') are not quite the same, which is why I only expect 168 bhp from a 170 PS engine.

No it's not as its a the wheels, 140 is at the fly.

the loss in 2wd is usually only 20 bhp (ish)

AFAIK the haldex in normal conditions runs 90% front drive 10% rear, so if dyno only took readings from the front drive

 

then that would account for some of the low BPH recorded?

 

However, figures are figures (they just surprised me) but the improvement in the drivability of the car has made the remap well worth while  :clap:  

 

Just one small point re the Mk11 Superb, why oh why did they swap the Main lights switch with the instrument panel

 

illumination cos now I can't see the lights switch because the steering wheel is blocking the view. :devil:  Just how often

Haldex4 is at least 60% RWD when the torque demand is above a certain threshold (basically when the car is accellerating) which would be the case during a dyno test.

Never, the same number of times I use the headlight switch.  It just stays in auto all the time, except for the 2 times a year there is fog.

I had my 4 x 4 done as the performance was at best mild. The DSG will sap even more performance, thankfully I've got the manual. I also have aquired the mondeo intelligent awd with a 150 motor, this is a lot more lively however I'm going to chip this and see what happens. It's got a display that shows which wheels are getting the power and in normal driving it's only the fronts , so in effect it's 2wd until you accelerate briskly or something happens ike snow or traction problems
