I'm used to the older generation of VAGs (Golf Mk4s etc) where it was wise to fit a de-lock kit.

 

Is this something that is still recommended on the newer models?

Simple answer  only if you really want to, or someone had had a go at the locks and you want to deter opportunist thieves.

 

Just remember that if your car battery fails and you don't have access to a lock to get into the car to open bonnet then you are in for at least 3 hrs hassle ( as the owner of my MK1 fabia vRS found out as i had the completely de locked and the battery died on him).

I normally put new batteries in the key fobs at the same time. If the car battery dies then it won't be getting driven anyway.
