SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH FELICIA TAILGATE

Featured Replies

these pictures my serious rust problems im having right now with my felicia tailgate. i just grinded the rust and there are 2 massive holes on the inside of the tailgate corners. and in my country i cant even find used tailgates without rust, they are all rusty no matter how much i search for one and a new tailgate is out of question as i was quoted 500 euros for a new one of metal and 380 euros for one of fiberglass. without a windscreen!

now the only thing i can think of doing is pile the holes with newspapers and use fiber filler to fil the holes as i already did with the tailgate corners on the outside. but i dont want to remove the windscreen as i use this car daily and i have no time and i dont have access to a welder...

and suggestions of what to do??post-114994-0-68281000-1456428248_thumb.jpgpost-114994-0-30707600-1456428261_thumb.jpg

Ah yes, I see you've discovered another of the Felicia owners pitfalls; rust.

Obviously the best fix is to weld in new metal. If you don't have access to a welder, you might be worth getting a quote from a bodyshop, or see if any friends are handy with a welder.

I can't condone the use of paper to fill the holes. Get some aluminium mesh sheets if you can, cut to a size close to that of the hole, fix/glue on and fill over that.

I ended up finding a decent used lid, the holes in mine were that bad.

I was close to finding a good lid recently but i discovered rust on the backside. Ill try to get a quote from a bodyshop for just welding the metal because i know how to paint no problem

I got quoted 200 euros for welding new metal on several rust holes in the tailgate.

I think that's reasonable. You would struggle to get it any cheaper I would think.

I think i dont have any choice cant find any decent lids. They are all rusted

i found these repair panels on a website. i think ill buy these and give them to the body shop to just cut and weld them in place and ill remove the windscreen for him to get the quote a bit down on price.

Even better yeah. Make sure to coat the inside with spray wax when you get it back too. Should keep it decent for a little longer.

found myself a decent tailgate with no rust at all at a scrapyard :)))

Ah looks good. Well done.

Just get yourself a new seal for when it's painted. You can just cut the old one as I'm sure you know.

The seal is intact and all im going to do is spray wax up all the inside of the door where the lock is and grease up under the seal so no moisture gets in

I have faced some problems with the tailgate gasket and the rear glass seal in my Felicia.

I have posted a video too but we are not the only one.

Same problem with Porsche Panamera - Boxster - Cayenne, water drain holes are clogged and here is the tragic result.
