Adding passenger airbag deactivation

Featured Replies

Would like to add this system if possible. Unsure with the safety side of things messing about with airbags etc so wanting to see if anyone knows how the system works.

Is it as simple as it just turns the feed off and that's it or is it quite a complex system?

I know on other cars when you switch the passenger airbag off you get a warning light on the dash, is this the case with the Fabia or does it just light up the warning switch that goes in the dash.

So basically just wanting to know more about the system, how it works and how easy / difficult it's going to be to do.

The switch is connected to the ECU. The signal goes to the ECU which deactivates the passenger side airbag and illuminates the warning light on the dash (above the stereo).

Sounds like a fairly simple thing then, possibly somthing the dealer would fit if required?

im sure if they fit cruise control its going to be a similar thing.

I'm pretty sure as there is no approved retro fit kit (like cruise control) they wouldn't touch it.

Fair enough, just another one of my pointless crazy ideas like ESP :D

Thanks again.

Not something I would trust over the life of a small one in the passenger seat.

Yep, even more true. I've bought the switch for the dash but ideally want it to work as it should.

I was hoping it could be a simple switch, when it's off, it just basically unplugs the airbag. Switch it on, the airbag works as it should.

Again, I would have wanted the dealers to do it, not somthing I would do myself incase I blow my dash out and smash the windscreen! I'd only have to replace it with a heated one and the price goes up even more!
