Carbon engine cover

Featured Replies

Has anyone else seen this on Ebay?

Seems like a bit of a bargain at nearly half the price of the Carbonio one. (allbeit not as nice looking)

They also list one for the Golf/Leon Tdi, would this not also fit the Fabia vRS?

Looks good, wonder why they are so much cheaper? Less layers of carbon fibre so flimsier I wonder?

I've seen one on a car and it looks great, the same guy has now sold it and had the rocker cover polished, it now looks even better.

Might have fewer layers, but I guess as it is cosmetic that's not really an issue?

Will the Golf Tdi one fit the Fabia?

Is that real carbon fibre or carbon fibre lookalike - which is what Milotec's carbon fibre pillar trims actually are?

The 1.8T one actually says carbon fibre, but I've just noticed the diesel one says "carbon fibre finish". Umm? Not sure that would account for only

also note that when Monkey Boy fitted one to his vRS he had to quite a bit of cutting with a drimmel to make it fit perfectly...

dont think he had that exact one but something to bare in mind

There is normally a big difference in price between wet lay up (cheapo shiny carbon) and pre-preg (lighter, Stronger, less "glossy")

If it's cosmetic, wet lay up stuff can be cheap and good looking, watch the dust if dremmeling though it hazardous. I normally use a tungsten carbide saw (

I have got a contact who can supply cutom and one off carbon parts if anyone is interested and I have some wet layup sheets about A4 size kicking around.

arh pants, could of really not done with reading and registering that thought....how big / small a custom part?

Colin, as small as master cylinder covers for bikes (couple of inches square), to huggers and fairings (few feet) it's pre-preg as well, he can do wet lay up but grumbles about it :-)

If it is small ish and flat, I have got pre-preg in the garage that can be cut nicely to size, and it polishes up nicely with some autosol.
