Those Windows Again - and the Alarm too!

Featured Replies

Having suffered from the overnight window-opening syndrome on a couple of occasions last autumn, I'm a bit paranoid about checking them frequently and doing the 'right-down-right-up' procedure to reset any possible latent error every now and then.  So I was rather miffed a couple of days ago to find them open.  I can remember checking when I was passing the car during the evening but NOT what sort of time it was then.  Hey ho, it hadn't rained (much) and only a splash had got in, so do a reset and try harder to remember to check.

The next evening, visiting locally, neither of our key fobs would throw the locks!  Unlocking was apparently OK - at least, it went through the click-and-flash routine that would have accompanied unlocking - but no reaction to the fob 'lock' signal, even close up.  Fortunately, the key did work and all was made secure.

This morning, the windows were all closed and the fobs are working again :wonder: ....

Is there anything that could be transmitting locally?

A radio ?

Is this happening when parked in the same place, or has it happened when more than ½ mile away?

I had a 3rd party alarm fitted to my car and whenever I set it when visiting a friend,

it unlocked another car close by that was not fitted with the same alarm.

We had our front door bell going off because it was near a similar unit under 30yds

away. Can your dealer shift a frequency on your car, surely there must be a selectable

range on the units.

No, the frequency is fixed.
