Changing standard stereo settings

Featured Replies

Anyone had issues with the settings not changing on the standard stereo?

Looking to set it so the stereo comes on and goes off with the ign key,so press and hold TP,scroll through the settings and find 'key',it was already 'on' in the settings but the stereo only works by pressing the volume button to turn on or off.

Tried changing the setting to 'off' and back to 'on' but it's still the same, does not come on or go off with ignition.

Cheers :)

The volume/on/off button is the final arbiter. If you want the radio coming on when the key is inserted and vice-versa, you must leave the volume button out.

Any chance someone's been messing with the wiring? has the car had a non-standard h/u in the past and the wires have been swapped?

Other possibility is fuses.... 10 and 45 ISTR

^This was my first thought the other day, but thought it was too obvious to suggest

Will check fuses :)

You could be right though about having the wiring swapped,as we only bought the car a couple of weeks ago!

Never crossed my mind tbh it could have had a aftermarket head unit in it!reason being it's a one owner car with everything bog standard on it,and only covered just over 70k.

Not thread related, but did you use to kick around on 306 gti6 forum coskev. Your user name rings a bell!

Yeah :)

Had a 309gti I converted to a Gti6 lump,then a 306 Rallye

Glad I'm not going mad. Would love to be back behind a xu10j4rs powered french tin can. Keeping my eye out for a cheap one local to hopefully pop up to restore. The fabia vrs are nice but I do miss 7000rpm in 3rd gear!

The handling I miss of the 306.

Rare cars now tbf, searched net the other week and there's only a handful of adverts.

I used mine as a daily,so don't miss the fuel usage and the lack of air con at all!!!! :)

Well if you think now the youngest 306 is coming up 16 years old! I remember people on the forum "bragging" that they got 30-36mpg out of the 306 :Lol Best i got was about 23mpg combined, heavy right foot seen me down to about 12-15 :D

You mite of seen but a lad on detailing world is restoring a nice red rallye. http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=354265

Yeah have spoke to Ben a fair bit as I did the underside of my Rallye like he's doing.

I kept my Rallye for a while once I got the VRS,but to be a garaged weekend car I felt it needed a full respray and some more power,so when I totted up that cost I decided to sell it and build my kit car as I had always wanted one.
