2011 Fabia 1.6 TDI glow plug warning light

Featured Replies

Hi,

So this morning I was on the motorway doing around 70 when the car lurched as though it had stalled, the engine revs dropped and wouldn't climb and the glow plug warning light has started flashing!

I brought the car to a stop on the hard shoulder with the engine still running, then it started off fine but the light kept flashing.

Its not done this before, but it has stalled in 2nd gear twice recently, with the engine being unresponsive to the accelerator when trying to restart it. Both times, it would start okay, but the engine would stutter with the revs jumping between 0 - 1000rpm and then die.

Has anyone else had these issues? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

More than likely an EGR valve fault I'd expect.

If it is the egr valve, how easy is it to rectify?

I had the same problem with mine a while back it was the egr wiring loom I have no idea of cost as this was fixed under warranty. I hope it is not your egr as I belive it's time consuming job to get to the egr valve in these as there buried at the back of the engine. The flashing glow plug can mean lots of things I've had it a few times one team it was the turbo pressure sensor again under warrenty.

Thanks for your answer! The car is still under warranty from the dealership, so I'll be giving them a call later to see if they can solve it.

Having done some digging around, the egr valve seems to be the most likely suspect given what happened (seems a common problem) but if it comes under warranty, them I'm sorted.

They and I mean skoda Ireland did mine twice, once under warranty and the second time as a good will gesture as I had sensors fail twice
