Replacing stereo with Pumpkin audio

Recommended Posts

Hi folks not happy with the bolero sound system and have start looking at Pumpkin audio systems on Amazon just wondering if anyone has fitted one and was wondering if they sound a bit better and louder. Was looking at Android audio systems very interested.

Also there is a lot of systems fit Octavia mk2 up to 12 plate does the bolero system remain the same size as the one in my 15 plate.

Thanks

Just wondering - do you have a Canton on it? If so you are in for one hell of a ride ;) Just see my other post:

And no, the systems designed to older skodas would not fit.

If you are Canton-free, you should have 100+ options to choose from.

Cheers!

If I were you, I would look for a panel tailored for Octy3. Pumpkin seems to offer units cut to fit previous generation only. There are adapter plates I'm sure, but the question is if it's worth it - better to find something looking more like OEM unit. Just think on the features you need, the OS you would prefer (Win or Android) and check ebay/amazon/aliexpress.

As for the overall compatibility, I guess there is a question that needs to be addressed on case-by-case basis, depending on the manufacturer/product you find. It's about the integration level, how well the head unit can communicate with the car: read/write OBD to control climatronic, parking sensors, settings, etc...Most if not all units are advertised to have such capabilities, but as far as I've heard the actual results may vary...

All in all, if you only want the sound to be improved and don't feel like needing the extra navi or features, maybe you could simply try to keep the bolero and fit it with an amp and maybe a DSP?

Cheers!
