For those who can't be arsed to read the attached post, I tried to order a VRS TDI DSG back in 2013, got messed about and ended up in a Jag XF Sportbrake.

However, despite the fact that the Jag is a great car, I still quite fancy a VRS. So, I popped in to a different dealer this time (Winchester Skoda) to see what was around...

I had a test drive in a manual TDI and loved it, handles much better when being caned compared to the Jag (not a huge surprise given it is 400kg lighter!). I like to drive 'enthusiastically' (where conditions, traffic etc allow) - whilst the Jag is a real looker, and great for wafting up and down the motorway, it is no B road bandit.

I could have happily taken a TDI, however they managed to do me a great deal on a stock brand new red 230 estate - should take delivery in a couple of weeks. At less than £300 per month including maintenance (£1700 down +35m, 10k miles) it will save me £150 per month - insurance is cheaper too!

Cue - sleepless nights for the next couple of weeks...
