Temporary protection

Featured Replies

Ok, so tonight I finished decontaminating the paint. On Friday I'm driving down to Wales so would like something on the paint, but due to work and daylight I won't have time to polish and apply sealant.

So that I have some protection for the road trip should I apply some sealant or wax? I'd be looking to remove it later anyway to give it a good polish with the DA.

Cheers!

What have you got?

SRP, wax, even some QDs will last a few months.

Jetseal 109,dodo juice blue velvet.

If I use jetseal 109 I'd have to apply it by hand as I've currently only got one fine finishing pad.

Just put the dodo on, but to be honest, your paint won't get damaged if you do a full decon and not put anything on it for a short time.

Your putting the wax on it more to protect it from bird droppings, usual fallout etc

So quick rinse, wax it, enjoy the drive to wales and back!

Cheers, I'm obviously worrying too much. I realised how much I like meg's gold class shampoo. The car is shining and beading after only a wash and decon, after not having anything done for 6 months prior.

Jetseal has good durability from my experience, so i'd go with that, perhaps slightly easier to apply too.

Although not much in it to be honest

Yeah but since he only wants it for a week or two (or as life has a habit of doing, a month), the wax will be easier to remove than the Jetseal.

And yeah the Gold shampoo has polymers in it so it will bead. It's one of those gloss enhancing shampoo's.

But that's another conversation for another topic/thread.

Well, I got back from my 350M trip to Wales today. The car is still shiny.  There is obviously dirt and grit on it, but I'm tempted tomorrow to give her a 2BM clean and then apply some wax on top of the sealant I applied before I went away :)

I'm not going to have time to do a paint correction before going back to work, so as Mozzie predicted, the 'temporary' protection is going to have to last a bit longer. JS109 under a layer or two of wax should shine up nicely!
