Finally collected my new Yeti

Featured Replies

I finally collected my lovely new  Yeti from Simpsons in GT. Yarmouth yesterday.  Everything went smoothly, but it was a little strange taking out so much money from my bank account with my debit card.  The only thing missing was the dog guard, as there isn't one in the country at present, but I can wait.  My first impressions are very positive.  There isn't as much room in the back for my dogs, but then I knew that the boot on a Yeti isn't the biggest.  After a few brake tests, I had a lovely journey back home, driving very carefully at first.  Pulling away, you notice the slight pick up delay on the DSG, but that's a minor thing.  I noticed that we were smartly away from junctions and roundabouts, presumably  due to the turbocharging, and it's clear that the 1.2 engine has plenty enough oomph for my purposes.  This morning I parked the car outside the Harbour Cafe in Southwold, and it drew quite a few admiring glances from people as they walked past, and  I'm really glad that I chose the Jungle Green, as it looks super-smart in that colour.  I know I'm going to have a brilliant time driving my new Yeti.

Glad you are pleased with your new Yeti. I also purchased mine from Simpsons at Great Yarmouth, who I found to be very helpful (perhaps they all are when emptying ones bank account!)

I must have missed you at the Harbour cafe by about two days as I cycled there from near Bungay the day before yesterday; never mind, if I spot a new Jungle Green Yeti there on one of my regular visits I may have a word.

All the best, and I hope you continue to be happy with the car. Mine is a 170 Elegance, coming up to three years old and 29,000 miles with no notable problems so far (touch wood, as they say!)

Congrats! I just picked mine up a few days ago, you'll enjoy it and it'll surprise you the more you drive it :)

Do you mean the one with the fittings in the roof for fitting in the luggage compartment or behind the front seats?

I have one of them and it's not really ideal as a dog guard.

It fits behind the rear seats, and is like a heavy wire mesh.  As long as my dogs don't try to clamber over, it will be alright until it arrives

Enjoy your new Yeti. The most important thing to remember is under NO circumstances should you read the supplied manual. This is because it is against forum policy and might result in a spell in the "dry" part of Bob's Corner but more importantly to do so will spoil the surprise over the next six months or so of finding things that you didn't even know you had.

You certainly picked it up at the right time - presumably you drove home in lovely sunshine, the forecast for today is cloudy with showers and tomorrow promises the chance to try it out in gale force winds, driving rain and a bit of hail. Or you could keep it in the garage and not get it muddy - Yetis are mud-magnets.

Enjoy!

I've volunteered for a drive across the Pennines today, just so I could play  :D

Picking up Paul's point about the manuals, I risked purdah by settling down with them but gave up. There's too much info and my old eyes didn't get on with the pics.

I've since been through them online and the ability to zoom up the pdf's was far better for me.

There. I've said it. I've read the manuals

My Mates "Rusty & Star" both border "Collies" with 2 rear seats laid flat have heaps of room.

They have been trained to respect boundaries and still got 2 extra seats for Human friends.

Enjoy your new friend.

I thought the days of taking bundles of cash out of the bank to buy a car from a dealer was history. They are far happier for you to pay for it using your debit card?

Precisely what I did do.  Simpsons told me they would only accept a debit card, although I took along  my cheque book just in case.

Cheques have no guarantee, card transfer is instant, if you you insisted on paying by cheque, suspect they would want it to clear first, another 5 days wait!. On collecting my new Yeti the balance to pay was £20!

Sorry - misunderstood your post, I read it that you had gone to the bank and got cash.
