Fabia vrs newbie

Featured Replies

Hello all new to the forum,

Currently own a 206 sw diesel, 03 plate and it's my first diesel.

Use it just a work car with odd day trips out.

Looking to upgrade next year and been looking at Fabia.s which lead to to this forum,

So what are they like day to day? Boot space etc? Mpg?

What things should I be looking out for?

Mileage wise?

Really like the black or silvers ones ,

Probably will be looking at getting a 05 or 06 plate,

Any tips or comments ?

Depends hat spec you want really. a cheap 1.9 SDI will get great MPG 50 - 60? boot space is reasonable, not sure what they would be like for for a family with buggys and prams etc..

- Most of the rear doors leak, need sealing, few hour job and cost around £20 or so.

- Wishbone bushes are common for failing.

- Any 1.9 diesel engine will get good MPG

- The 1.9 SDI are very reliable for up to 200,000 miles really, just clutch to change when the milage gets higher. 1.9 TDI will need a turbo, clutch and flyhweel around 100,000 give or take.

I'm soon to be a father for a second time - and have only found 3 buggies that fit directly into the small'ish boot.. they fold down into a square as opposed to a rectangular shape. As such they charge more - if you've got two kids in prams - it's a no go.

As a daily though, the VRS is great fun.. you can give it some heavy beans and still return 38mpg.. they're fairly reliable.

Take preventative measures to address common issues (i.e - console bushes, rear doors leaking etc).. and budget for the random expensive ones (turbo, DMF, Clutch in time)..

Looks after it and it'll look after you, and so tuneable if you wanna dip your hands into your pocket.

Sounds good. My works 20miles away 6 days a week, 206 has 5 gears so think it would help having 6 plus the odd trip away with mpg.

We have a little one so the five doors would help,

Don't think I will be tuning it., just seem like a decent car in standard form to enjoy. A good all rounder?

What are they like in terms of rust? They all seem to be all around the 100k miles mark.

Rust is generally ok unless poorly repaired or maintained.

Tailgates seem to suffer a bit around the number plate and arch lips from stone damage if not looked after.
