Fairly sure you cant crack these open, replacement unit won't be that much though.

Bugger.I've seen some for sale without the code. How does it work..after install it boots up and asks for a code?

No, each unit is coded to the ECU automatically. there is no code to in-put.

I suspect that if you change the unit you will need to re-code it with VCDS.

If you put a headunit into a car that it doesn't belong then it will just ask for its security code.

The only coding that may need to be done with VCDS is options if the donor vehicle had a different audio spec like cd changer, aux socket etc.

I stand corrected.

I've got a Swing radio from our 2011 yeti if you're interested. £50

Yes I'm interested where are you?I'm cost to junction 28 on the m1.The car is a 2011 1.2 tsi standard spec.if this is the same model could it just be a straight swap ?

I'm in Bolton and as far as I know, yes it should be just a straight swap.

Would it request a code to be input?
The one originally fitted would be saved into the ECU but fitting a different one may need it.

Car audio shops will usually sort that for about a tenner.

You don't need to do that. If you trust the seller you can just send £50 to their Paypal account.
