I want to put 17's on my Fabia VRs, but the tyres on the ones I want are 205/40/17 and the wheels are 7 inches wide. The bloke in the garage said I might need to roll the arches on the back? My car is lowered 25mm do you think they will rub the arches without rolling them?

You'll be perfectly fine, plenty of vrs's with 7.5 inch wide wheels running 215/40/17 tyres on eibachs with no problem

Just check the offset (how far the wheel sits in or out on the hub) is close to the original ET37, anything between 35-40 is usually fine.

i've just fitted 7"x17" (et35mm) with 205/40/17 tyres (standard susp) - plenty of room :)

You could fit a tank under the Fabia's arches ;)

Mine are 205/40 x 17 and I'm running 50mm lower at the fromt and 60mm lower at the back, no rubbing. ET38.

Slightly off topic (apologies) but how much are you guys 'n' gals paying for a half decent set of 205 / 40 / 17's at the moment? - I still have nearly new alloys sat at home off my old Golf wearing 225 / 45's and am torn between selling the wheels and tyres on ebay or putting the 17s on my Furby and thus having to shell out for new tyres, when the 225s are only very very slightly worn. I suppose I could try and sell the 225s but I doubt I'd get much for them.....
