Hello I am new to the forum, and own a fabia 1.2 TSI with a DSG gear box and am collecting  tiles for bathroom tomorrow and was wondering what the max weight I could carry in the  boot

Use common sense, obviously tiles are heavy and the back end is going to sag down by a fair bit when loaded up but just make sure there is still plenty of tyre clearance and you will be fine. You could calculate how many boxes of tiles you need first and see how much they weigh and then decide if you need 2 trips or not but i have a gut feeling by the time the car is on its arse there won't be enough room in a fabia boot.

The boxes of tiles will have their weight printed on the side. Calculate the total weight you will be carrying and then check the maximum axle weight of the car's rear axle which is listed in the owners handbook. Do not overload the rear axle. Try to spread as much of the weight forward as you load. Put the rear seats down and maybe put a box or two in the footwells behind the driver and passenger. I collected almost a third of a ton of tiles in my Fabia estate with the seats down and I also put some in the front passenger footwell and behind the driver and passenger seats. It was the maximum amount I could carry without overloading an axle.
