Exhaust care

Featured Replies

Evening folks.

I got the Milltek popped on Saturday, and it was filthy by the time I got home.. (typical).

It got me to wondering what was best too:

-Clean it (is it best to just foam and then shampoo over?)

-Give it a shine and protect

Many thanks! ;)

Sounds like a nice update - i love cleaning the milltek tips on my car.

I tend to give the exhaust a clean whilst i'm doing the alloys; then wash the car as normal and finally seal.

For now i assume that the exhaust is stainless/chrome finish; let us know if different.

Autosol or Meguiars NXT polish are both very good - using a sponge on MF on a new tip should be adequate.

Then seal with something like FK1000P wax or even Sonax BSD on amaintenance wash as i do.

As an alternative - look at the Britemax Metal Twins products - cover the above points nicely too

Britemax twins followed with Blackfire Metal Sealant.

Or if you have heavy, medium, light cut compounds will also work.

But if brand new then just clean as normal and maybe the odd use of Tar remover followed with the above metal sealant.

Thank you both for your replies - you've put me in the right direction.

It is a stainless finish and is new, so it's about cleaning at each wash, and then getting shiny before it inevitably gets filthy again.

Here's hoping to lots of sunshine this year :-)

I'm thinking of getting this for the Xtreme alloys anyway; anything to make cleaning easier and keep them looking good!
