Hello briskodians!

Hello everyone, i'm Max.

I just bought a 2002 Octavia 4x4 hatch. I'm in love with the car. I bought it from a relative who used it to rally all over central america (but it's in mint shape:eek: ) so it has a few goddies like boost controller, tuned suspension and shocks and a turbo timer.

I've been reading the technical section for about 4 straight weeks and i think i've read most of it. The ammount of information there is overwhelming.

I live a little far away (Dominican Republic) so i hope you guys can help me with the standard maintenance wich i will have to do myself.:o

Have a good day everyone!

Max

Welcome to a fellow 4X4 owner - although mine is a Combi/Estate. There should be a DIY workshop manual in English (by Haynes) next year for the Octavia. :D

wont that be specifically for the new octavia? Mine didnt bring the owners manual and i'm very picky about car care :(

Any hints on what are the first odd things to service besides oil and filters?

No , its for the original shape octavia

No, it will be for the 'old' Octavia. What oil change and service intervals will you be using, ie 7,500, 15,000 km or variable for the first, and a service every 15,000 km or variable for the second?

Down here we usually change our oils every 5000 km, but as far as i know, these engines are pretty efficient and clean, thus letting us use longer periods between changes, am i right?. I'm planning on using fixed intervals. The car has almost 37,000 km, oil recently changed at 35k. Anything else i should be changing at this point?

Hello and Welcome.
