Total engine failure Octavia II Greenline 2009 1,6

Featured Replies

Dear Octavia'rs,

I am writing because I don't know what else to do. My Skoda from 2009, Greenline had a total engine failure two months ago. It was maintained regularly at authorised dealers, but in Slovenia, where I bought it, I have failed to get any help from the dealer himself now (I could get like 20% discount on the new engine which is still like 4000EUR). A used engine is at least 2000EUR.

Nobody tells me what exactly happened and I am really angry about eveything. I took care of the car really well, but since its not in warranty anymore, I get nothing. The highest offer I got for the vehicle as it is now (broken engine) is 2000EUR. I find it really few, the car has 150.000km.

Nobody tells me what exactly was wrong with the engine, nor I think they know that. Some inner piece has broken off.

What makes matters even worse is that the engine was once repaired during warranty - it was consuming too much oil so they replaced something on the valves. I was lucky it was in warranty back then. It was an error the authorised dealer had never seen in his life either and had to ask advice in CZ.

Can anyone advice me what to do? Is there some way of getting anything from Skoda because I did not succeed through the dealer nor the Slovenian importer. Nobody is willing to help. Otherwise, what would you choose? Selling the car under value or repairing it with a used engine (a lot of hassle because I now live abroad)?

Excuse my poor knowledge, I am not an expert in cars.

Thank you very much,

Dasa from Slovenia
