Fabia MK1 Advice - Kenwood DPX-406DAB Double Din Digital Radio

Featured Replies

Hi, looking to get one of these for my fabia mk1 2002.

I believe this will fit when tray under standard radio is removed, and have found the large fascia on amazon.

Q. Any wiring issues i need to be aware of?

Q. As it is DAB should i replace the arial?

thanks

You'll need a conversion loom to transfer from the VAG wiring to the wiring on the head unit as they arent guaranteed to be wired the same.

DAB aerial to my knowledge is an additional unit not a direct replacement to the standard - when fitting a GPS double din its replaced then but if its not a GPS model then I dont believe its required - if it is then i priced up a loom and aerial for a unit i was looking at before christmas, came to an extra 80-100 on top for both items.

Safe to say i decided to keep the standard CD unit and buy an FM transmitter!

I have a Kenwood DDX-5015DAB, no extra wiring loom was needed just the permanent live and ign live needed switching over (this was covered in the fitting instructions), I used a DAB aerial that sticks in the windscreen, the original aerial won't do DAB but is also connected to the head unit so the normal FM radio also works, when the head unit looses the DAB signal it automatically switches to same station on FM if available.

Thanks for replies,

have installed it and is working, at least FM is.

Have no dab ariel at the moment, and to be honest the standard ariel is pretty crap for reception of FM.

Was thinking of installing something like this, though is bit expensive.

Are you aware that the aerial needs a power supply and when you change to an after market head unit you lose this power supply and that could be why you have a bad FM signal.

Thanks for replies,

FM reception has always been bad, yes made sure power is feed to original arial.

Thanks for suggestions.
