Scangauge or FIS

Featured Replies

I've been looking at the Scangauge setup to use on my VRS.

Has anybody used either the Scangauge or FIS on their Skoda or seen them in action?

I'm still undecided on adding the Scangauge setup or having it intergrated on the Maxidot display. I do like the idea of not having extra displays on the dash, Keep it neat and tidy.

I have the Polar FIS+.

Like you say it's nice to have it integrated into the maxidot.

I also like the other features it brings like Columbus PDC and climate display, passenger mirror dip on reverse, adjust comfort indicator flashes, adjusting rain and light sensor, DRLs etc etc.

It also allows me to use a Bluetooth module that would not normally work with a pre-FL car.

It has 0-60 and lap timer on too.

Think the Scangauge looks ugly!

0-60 timer:

This is how it shows in the menu but you can also change the name from Polar FIS+ to whatever you want:

One of the screens- you can customize what is displayed on each screen:

Can I ask where you bought your FIS+ from Phil?

Does it plug in the OBD2 port?

I bought it from ebay and it came from Portugal I think about 220 euros.

And no it doesn't plug into the OBD2 port it plugs into the CAN gateway. This then leaves the OBD2 port free.

The CAN gateway will either be behind the glovebox on pre-57 plate cars or underneath the steering wheel (behind the relays).

I've then got the USB lead tucked behind the fuse board panel for updating the firmware with the laptop without having to remove it from the car.

Just checked actually and the only ones are from Spain at £220 so they've gone up since I bought mine!

Might be somewhere else to buy from.

Everything Phil says. :)

I've got a PolarFIS+ too ;)

Never knew about the CAN gateway

I'm watching the £220 ones from Spain atm. Will be ordering one in the next few weeks. Thought it'll come in handy before my trip to Shark for a remap.
