Octavia vRS - what VAG-COM modules should work?

Featured Replies

Only some options in the vag-com software seem to work... others keep telling me it failed to re/connect to the car computer.

What parts in the software should definitely work with my Octavia vRS (cruise, no mods, standard ICE)? ie. which can I look at to know - yes this is working, or no it isnt?

Cheers, Paul

These work for my 4X4 - except that 25 gives a no fault found or DTCs not supported by controller or communication error occurred. The vRS should have the same ECUs except for 22: AWD.

Address:

01: Engine

03: ABS brakes (ESP ALLRAD MK 60)

08: Auto HVAC (Climatronic)

15: Airbags

17: Instruments

19: CAN Gateway

22: AWD (HALDEX LSC)

25: Immobiliser

46: Central Conv.

56: Radio

Did the automatic sweep test which returned all those as fine apart from:

5: Air Bags (think i didnt enable airbag test. will do.)

19: CAN Gateway - 01304 Radio 49-00 no communicaitons found?

22: AWD (HALDEX LSC) - as you said, not found, ok.

25: Immobiliser - not detected?

So seems to be working, which is promising. Any idea how you can change options in it? I.e. seatbelt beeping etc. as people have mentioned on other threads. What else can I do with it other than report diags?

Cheers, Paul

For starters go to Address (Module) 46: Central Convenience

Select Adaption - 10

Scroll through the various Channel numbers, eg:

03 - auto lock

04 - auto unlock

06 - unlock horn (ie horn beep when unlocking) - doesn't work on my 4X4

07 - lock horn (ditto both)

08 - unlock blink

09 - lock blink

10 - alarm horn (again not on my 4X4)

Module 17 - Instruments - is also worth looking at

Select Adaptation 10

The various channels store info on type of oil, inspection distance and inspection time, ie whether or not your car is set for variable service intervals or fixed

If you are using the latest full version of VAG-COM it tells you what each channel is and what th setting options do. Just remember to make a note of what the settings were before you change them so that you can revert back if necessary.

PS Have a look around Ross-Tech's site. There is loads of good info there. SEATCupra.net also has a very active VAG-COM forum.

Great thank you, will go have a play - so much easier to get started when I know what I'm looking for :)

Cheers, Paul

Paul, if you select Module 1 - Engine with the engine running, you can access quite a range of interesting dynamic info by selecting Measuring Blocks - 08.

is this with the free ware vag com software?
