Exhaust inspection system warning light

Featured Replies

I drive a Skoda Roomster and since Wednesday I have had the Exhaust inspection system warning light on permanently whilst driving after starting the engine.

The car is now 4 years old, I took it for a run on the motorway yesterday which it has never had since I purchased it to test if there was a blockage but the warning light still remains.

There has been no loss of power and it is driving as normal. Other than taking it to the garage for a diagnostic check which will cost me the minimum of £85 is there anything else I can do which resolve the problem please?????

Thank you for replying, I live in Swansea, South Wales.

If you look on the vcds owners map you may find someone locally who has a vcds usually for a few beer tokens they will plug in a vcds and see what's going on

Thanks for that

I've just consulted the map, there are two members with vcds near me, I've just emailed one, if no joy I'll contact the other.

Usually worth checking when they last logged in

If needs put a post in the vcds section action for a member help (not all members with vcds are on the map )

Thanks very much for all the info, I forgot to mention that the car is diesel, according to this link the warning light is the emissions control lamp http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/warning-light/emissions-control-lamp, the member that I have contacted is going to scan the car for fault codes but to do dpf regeneration he needs the car to perform a few tasks before going ahead. I will of course report back on how this problem gets resolved.

Good luck mate

That light is not the DPF.  The "DPF needs a regeneration" lamp is the yellow silencer with spots.

When that engine light came on for me it was a sensor in the exhaust needed replacing - mine went at about 5k miles and was done under warranty.

Thank you for the information.

You are right, the car has been tested for faults today, it doesn't require dpf, there is an exhaust problem that hopefully my local Skoda garage will be rectifying on Friday.Unfortunately the car is no longer under warranty as its in to its fourth year, I will post what the actual problem is and the solution as soon as mended.

When the car was checked, four faults came up, they were Manifold Pressure / Boost Sensor and Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor related. After the car had been checked for faults the warning light went out and hasn't come back on since.

The update is that I took the the car to my local Skoda garage today, I gave the report to the garage, apparently when they checked for the faults they didn't come up so they recommended that we shouldn't do anything because it may be totally unnecessary. They didn't charge me and due to the car having done so little mileage, if there is a problem that did need rectifying and the light came back on, that we should approach Skoda for financial assistance because it shouldn't be happening.
