Hello from a first time Skoda owner. I just purchased a 2009 Octavia 1.9 diesel with a manual gearbox. I have never had a diesel car before and giggle when I look at the mpg range estimate.

I'm learning about the car as I know very little about it. The biggest mystery I have tackled so far was to figure out what the little plastic sliding thing was in the center console. I think it's to let climate controlled air into the box to keep candy bars from melting in the summer!

I scanned the forum before buying the car and read all about the "chocolate" connecting rods some of the 1.9d's are known for. Will see what happens there.

I really like the car and signed up here to learn more about it.
