oil light

Featured Replies

Can anyone help.? Sick of this oil light coming on after a bit of hard / fast driving.

Doing hard plus high revs for any length of time then stop let car IDLE for a couple of mins switch it off wait then turn ignition on to number 2 BANG oil light comes on.

Its averaging about 2 hundred miles from the full level on the dip stick to half way down on the CHECKARD part on the dip stick when light comes on.

Ave put 3 turbos on just this year thinking that its the turbos at fault.

1st turbo packed up cos the person a paid took old nackard 1 off fitted new 1 that lasted 20 weeks.

2nd Me and friend fitted it the only thing we didnt do was remove sump to clean this lasted 6 weeks.

3rd A fitted on me owen the only thing that was left on the car was the intercooler and engine everything was took off washed cleaned and new pipes even a brand new oil pick up pipe inside of sump now the car is just the same. it seems like its just drinking oil for fun.

The only thing a can come up with is oil valve stem seals but dont no how to test the engine if anything is wrong without pulling the head off.

Really getting sick now :wall:  any help would be good or information if anyone has suffered simler problems it could still be the turbo at fault but a hope not cos this has cost a fortune up to now.

it's a BXE 1.9 now its done 111187 miles

P.S sorry for going on but am just so sick now

What happens when you get to halfway down the dipsitck

On my old 2003 Superb I 1.9pd after an oil change it rapidly burnt oil until it hit halfway on the dipstick - BUT burn't more or less nothing after until the next service

Basicaly the light comes on a stop open the oil filler cap pull the dip stick let it cool down for 5 mins Yes the oil is down on the level put the filler cap and the dip stick back in turn ignition on light goes out then next morning check oil when it's stud over night and top up with oil.

it goes for another 2 hundred or so miles hey presto light back on but if a tootel around the doors treat it with kit gloves it seems to last a bit longer were the light wont come on.

It seems like as soon as a give it a bit SPORT hard and fast it can't cope with it.

Get a compression test to rule out worn or broken piston rings.

A have had a compression test done and they are fine to the haynes manuel recommendations.

Another update to this situation today the oil light came on so a stopped let the car idle opened the bonnet pulled the dip stick out with the engine still running loads of smoke came out of the dip stick pipe kept it out for a few mins put it back in jumped back into the car and the light went out but a do no the oil is down cos a havn't topped it up yet need more oil.
