Octavia 2.0 tdi dsg issue

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Im driving a mk2 octavia at the moment with a dsg gearbox.

When i start to drive everything as it should be for about 15-20 minutes.

After that i got this knocking feeling when im slowing down and gear changes from 3rd to 2nd.

The car takes around extra 2-3 seconds to move when im releasing the break pedal aswell.Doesn't pull as it should

Its very annoying now and unpleasent to drive like that.

Did anyone has a similar issue.

Thanks

Anybody???

I guess start with the basics.

Has it had DSG oil and filter changes every 40k miles?

These kind of issues are usually the mechatrinics or clutches that are faulty.

You will probably need some diagnostics to check the functions of the gearbox and run it through "basic settings" where it does a self diagnostic and resets and relearns clutch bite points etc.

How many miles does the car have?

My car has covered 36K miles and the DSG has no problems whatsoever.  I do hope I am not tempting fate!

Hi.

The mileage is 83k just now and the oil and filter been changed around 80k.

I bought the car just over a year ago and this problem started just a couple of months after that.

It has a full service history but it doesn't mention dsg gearbox oil change in the book.

Wow.I cant believe nobody had this issue before....

My car had this issue !! i would always get a crunch when going from 3rd to 2nd and an even worse one going from 2nd to 1st. got worse over time ! after many trips back and forth to the dealer they completed a software upgrade. Apparently this is avaiable to use for older higher mileage gearboxes where parts start to wear. it allows for the computer to take the wear into account.

I've got to say initially this sorted my issue out, so that route maybe the one for u...however for me it wasn't and ultimately the gearbox had to be totally replaced. thankfully it was under a used warrenty from Skoda so that saved me £5k!!! And all because the previous owner didnt replace the oil at the recommended 40k miles. i always do mine at 30k now to be safe.

I had this issue and dealer replaced mechatronik under warranty. I had oil changed every 40k and software upgreded but only new unit helped.
