From hot rods to a Skoda?

Featured Replies

I have nothing but the p*** taken out of me for buying a skoda octavia estate 1.8T. but i quite like it.

These things appear to be a Volkswagen / Audi under a different skin.

Whats the difference between the Elegence 1.8T estate 150bhp and the Vrs (appart from the trim, wheels, badges, exhaust, front bumper).

If there is no major differences.....

My plan:-

Chip / re-map..........200bhp?

Fit / fabricate new exhaust.

Lower

fit new wheels

replace interior with a VRS one (any one have one?)

Welcome!

Only a 30 bhp difference really.I think you have a bonus not having the vRS interior. It gets grubby.

Enjoy the car

The Octavia is build on the MK4 Golf platform. Many of the parts are shared with that car, the Seat Leon and the Audi A3.

You should get 215-220bhp from a remap alone. But make sure you fit the new exhaust first.

The Elegance has headlamp washers, sunroof, central arm rest all as standard over the VRs.

VRS suspension is different. Not just the ride height but the anit roll bars and associated links. If you're going to fit VRs suspension it is worth considering replacing these parts too as they have a significant effect on the handling and body roll. You cannt fit an uprated front anti roll bar to an Elegance as they dont make one that works with the links (so get the VRS ones)

The VRS interior is a pain to keep clean - you could consider a Golf R32 or Audi S3 interior as even the 3 door versions will fit straight in (front and rear).
