Task my indy with brake fluid change?

Featured Replies

Hey peeps hope everyone is well cracking weather here in sunny Cheshire ha ha!

Right then, my motor is due it's service in just over a month and looking at my documentation it appears my brake fluid ahem 'was' changed 2 years ago so by rights, needs doing.

Whilst I appreciate a lot of you on here (hats off to you btw) go down the DIY route, I'm considering having it done at a local Indy specialist who's come highly recommended to me. I've heard a few stories and even researched instances where dealers/garages just seem to top up the reservoir only but don't actually bleed the brakes themselves.

This concerns me as I don't exactly want to hover over them to check their doing it but I am well known to be one fussy bugger. It's my car that they're playing with after all!

It's been confirmed that if I supply the parts, they'll charge labour only which suits me fine. Yes, there's the get out clause in terms of warranty as they haven't supplied them but hey ho. What I'm wanting to know is what do people buy when they change their brake fluid. Do you get Pagid from say ECP and if so, How much?

Speaking of ECP, I think I'm going to take advantage of the discount currently and buy a new air filter for good measure and quite possibly a fuel filter. If I had the time and was happy doing it, I'd have a go at the brakes myself but feel it would be in my best interests to have someone do it.

Would you personally trust someone to change the fluid?

Cheers

I would trust an Indy who comes recommended certainly for this job. Its not in his interests to cut corners if he wants you back for things like belt changes etc. Just check your fluid etc before it goes in and see if theres any change in colour when it comes out.Maybe also check the brake nipples for evidence they have been bled etc.I would use Pagid from ECP no probs and its very cheap at present.Used it for years on my Saabs.I,m buying 2 ltres for when I bleed my brakes next week and am also changing the fuel and air filter as well.Mind you I didn't get those from ECP but from that good auction site.Approx £6.75 each for good OEM filters.
